The “Türkiye National Forestry Program Final Workshop,” held in Ankara on 3–4 December 2025, took place as a major national gathering shaping the country’s forestry policies, sustainable forest management goals, and future vision. Organized under the coordination of the General Directorate of Forestry, the workshop brought together a wide range of participants, including representatives of public institutions, academics from universities, non-governmental organizations, and sector stakeholders.
Within the scope of the workshop, key topics such as the effectiveness of national forestry policies, adaptation and resilience to climate change, conservation of biodiversity, the role of forests in rural development, fire management, digitalization, and the development of forest inventory systems were discussed. Technical assessments prepared by experts were presented during the sessions, and comprehensive consultations were conducted among stakeholders with the aim of policy development and strategic direction setting.

Representing the Faculty of Forestry at Artvin Çoruh University, our Dean, Prof. Dr. Mehmet YAVUZ, attended the workshop and shared his views particularly on sustainable forest management, nature-based solutions, adaptation to climate change, and the importance of university–industry cooperation in the training of young engineers.
Participants emphasized that the process of updating the National Forestry Program constitutes a critical step in the conservation and management of Türkiye’s forest resources, noting that the workshop outcomes would serve as an important roadmap for policymakers.
