As the Faculty of Forestry at Artvin Çoruh University, we hosted the XIII Forest Construction-Transport and Technologies Workshop (ORITEK 2024). The workshop, held at our university on Friday, November 1, 2024, focused on 'Transport of Forest Products in Mountainous Areas and Applications of Information Technologies,' providing an academic perspective on forestry and forest technologies.
The opening session featured speeches from Dr. Mustafa Acar (on behalf of the 13th Workshop Committee - Artvin Çoruh University), Dr. Kıvanç Yüksel (on behalf of the ORITEK 2023 Organizing Committee - Kahramanmaraş Sütçü İmam University), Assoc. Prof. Mehmet Yavuz (Faculty of Forestry, Artvin Çoruh University), Artvin Regional Forestry Director Assoc. Prof. Mimar Sinan Özkaya, and Deputy General Director of Forestry Mustafa Özkaya.
The workshop included presentations and papers on topics such as 'Advancements in Activity Recognition and Time Studies for Timber Extraction Using Cable Yarding' by Prof. Dr. Stelian Alexandru Borz from Transilvania University of Brasov, Romania; 'Using Decision Tree Models for Machine Selection and Optimal Allocation in Production Planning' by Prof. Dr. Selçuk Gümüş of Karadeniz Technical University; 'Examination of Aerial Lines Used by the Artvin Forest Regional Directorate' by Bülent Eldemir, Head of the Machinery Supply Department, Artvin Forest Regional Directorate; 'Assessment of Noise and Particulate Matter Risks from Crane-Based Aerial Lines' by Dr. İnanç Taş from Bursa Technical University; 'Application of Decision Tree Models for Machine Selection, Cost, and Time Estimation in Forestry Production Activities' by Dr. Mustafa Acar, Artvin Çoruh University; and 'Evaluation of Mechanical Production Equipment Efficiency Using Unmanned Aerial Vehicles' by Dr. Halit Büyüksakallı, Muğla Sıtkı Koçman University.
In the ORITEK Platform Session, the decisions of previous meetings were reviewed, and recommendations for the next term were discussed. The session also included updates and discussions on various matters, such as international FETEC organizations and selecting the host institution for ORITEK 2025.
